Trullo Zoè (a Greek word meaning life) lies in a village close to Ceglie Messapica, about 7 km from Cisternino and 10 from Ostuni, in a strategic position both for the beaches (about 16 km) and for the major artistic attractions in the area: Locorotondo, Alberobello and Martina Franca. The trullo stands on top of the highest hill in the village, surrounded by two hectares of land with wonderful oaks and Mediterranean maquis scrub, enjoying cool breezes even at the height of summer.

The view is outstanding – across the whole valley covered in ancient olive trees, against a backdrop of the picturesque city of Cisternino. The building is made up of 5 cones and a so-called “lamia”, the stone now completely refurbished both inside and out by trullo master craftsmen. The stone was excavated on site and hand cut. This refurbishment lasted over two years, and without a doubt was one of the most decisive factors in giving the place its magical feel.

The paved area outside is equipped with tables, parasols, deck-chairs, a patio shower and night-lights, enabling it to be used morning, evening and night. Inside, it is made up of three independent bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living area comprising the main cone and two adjacent alcoves. The bedrooms have efficient brickwork wardrobes, and comfortable double beds (one king-size and one queen-size), tables and reading lamps. Both of the well-equipped bathrooms have a shower, the larger one also having a washing machine.

The original structure has been left intact in the rest of the house, ingeniously divided into a kitchen, reading area, and dining room with a large fireplace. All of the windows are equipped with mosquito nets and those in the bedrooms also have dark curtains. As the thick stone walls have been kept, the trullo is very cool in the summer, and maintains its heat in the winter months. In any case, it has heating in all rooms, including the bathrooms. It can sleep six, with the option of putting an extra bed in the living room for a seventh person.

*Ideally, rental goes from Saturday to Saturday, and the price includes electricity, water, and bed and bath linen. There is a heating supplement of €150 a week during the winter. If you use the extra bed, please add 10% to the weekly rental price.
